Introduction

Toossab Consulting Engineers Company as one of the main water related consulting engineers in Iran has been engaged to carry out more than 375 projects since its establishment in 1984. Toossab as one of pioneers in exporting technical services has participated in three international projects, Doosti joint dam, Mary water treatment plant in Turkmenistan and water resources management in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Toossab is founded as a consulting engineering company and has been predominantly engaged in study, design and supervision of water works.

The company has been working internationally to demonstrate the capability of Iranian consultant engineers worldwide, in relatively expanded fields of activity as followings:

Toossab is engaged in the following fields of activity with an effective role in demonstrating the capabilities of Iranian consultants in the region 

Integrated water resources management systems

Ground and surface water systems modeling and appraisal, integrated water resources management, river engineering and flood control, investigation on appropriate draught management strategies and using of low quality water for irrigation and municipal use.

Dams and hydraulic structures

Storage dams, head regulating and diversion dams, tailing dams, dam appurtenance, dam safety analysis, dam break analysis, hydropower plant, dam rehabilitation and refurbishment, dam and hydropower plant operation and maintenance.

Tailing disposal systems

Tailing pump stations, Tailing pipe lines, cyclone stations and tailing dam.

Water supply, storage, transmission, treatment and distribution

Water transmission lines, pumping stations, reservoirs, water treatment plants, water distribution networks .Real time monitoring of water distribution networks, dual municipal water distribution systems and transmission of tailing materials.

Surface and pressurized irrigation networks, on demand distribution network, conjunctive use for irrigation, using gravitational energy for operation of pressurized systems, non-conventional water use and participatory irrigation management.

River engineering

Toossab's experiences in the field of river engineering include:

    1-Riverbed and right-of-way studies

    2-River Basin development (basin pooling)

Following major items are components of these studies:

River physiographic, conditions of water utilization, climatology and hydrology, geology and geomorphology, identification of borrow material, hydro-morphology, land use and plant cover, river hydraulics, flood analysis, water quality, environmental impacts, socio-economic studies, juridical investigations and land appropriation, using GIS in river engineering for appropriate proposals flood control and watershed management, hydraulic structures, estimations.

SCADA and Telemetry and automation systems

Establishment of telemetry and Tele-control systems of water supply installations to enforce integrated and effective management, optimum utilization of installations, power consumption and water loss reduction, integrated and real time data on the condition and the amount of distributed water, water pressure control in the network and remote control.

Operation, maintenance and management of water and wastewater schemes

Preparation of plans and instructions regarding operation of dams, irrigation networks water and wastewater treatment plants, water transfer and distribution networks and sewage collection and transfer, management and monitoring of operation of dams, irrigation networks.

Real time monitoring of water distribution networks

Preparation of mathematical models of existing municipal water distribution networks and its calibration by local measurements to administrate the network, water quality control, proper crises management and enforcing proper alteration in the networks considering real demands.

Surface and ground water qualitative and quantitative modeling

Mathematical modeling of dams operation, surface and ground water resources qualitative and quantitative assessment, optimization of utilization and allocation of water resources within the basin. 

GIS and RS application in water resources management

Satellite image interpretation using a wide range of methods for investigating Land Cover, Land use maps, Snow Cover, rainfall, etc .

Environmental studies

Environmental impact assessments ( dam, irrigation network and water and wastewater treatment plants ), environmental investigations (various studies), preparation of environmental management and monitoring, administration and optimum utilization of treated wastewater, investigations on methods of pollution control ( water, soil, air ), integrated studies on water quality and air pollution.

Value engineering

Value analysis, that is often explained by value engineering and is considered a powerful tool for improving the viability of any project, such as water works in the competitive environment. To achieve the objective of value engineering through eliminating the unnecessary expenses of the project or enhancing its effectiveness, appropriate workshops and meetings will be held by expert personnel specialized value engineering particularly related to the waterworks.

Land survey

Surveying and geometric group by use of its highly-qualified personnel and precise measuring equipments provides a variety of products and services including: topographic mapping, cadastral, sectioning, profiling and volumetric calculations of earth works, pipeline and power line route surveys. GPS point positioning, spatial database. Measuring equipments include high precision GPS, Total station, Theodolits, levels, GIS and mapping soft wares.

Geo-technical works

Geological investigations and construction materials, boring and laboratory tests on borehole samples, site supervision on borings and test pits and geo-technical field tests. Foundation preparation, laboratory and in situ tests .Joint survey and rock slope stability analysis .Design and supervision on grouting activities, design and supervision on tunnel and trenches construction. Design of tunnel's permanent and temporary lining .Stability analysis and design of earth-fill dams and drain systems in various dam types.
